Mapping Texture from Multiple Camera Views onto 3d–object Models for Computer Animation
نویسندگان
چکیده
An algorithm for the mapping of texture from multiple camera views onto a 3D model of a real object is presented. The texture sources are images taken from an object rotating in front of a stationary calibrated camera. The 3D model is represented by a wireframe built of triangles and is geometrically adjusted to the camera views. The presented approach aims at the reduction of texture distortion associated with the boundaries between triangles mapped from different camera views and disturbance due to not visible parts of the object surface. For this purpose adjacent triangles describing the surface of the 3D model are grouped to homogenous surface regions which are textured with a common image followed by a local texture filtering at the region boundaries. For triangles not visible in any camera view a filter has been developed which uses the texture from adjacent visible triangles for the generation of synthetic texture. Experimental investigations with different real 3D objects have confirmed the suitability of the proposed technique for computer animation applications.

Model-based Face Capture from Orthogonal Images
From a survey of techniques, a novel method was implemented for creating photo-realistic 3D facial models from 2D images of a subject. Starting from two orthogonal views, a userassisted procedure was employed to recover 3D coordinates of a sparse set of chosen locations on the subject's face. A scattered data interpolation algorithm was then used to deform a generic face mesh to t the particula...
متن کاملNew dynamic zoom calibration technique for a stereo-vision based multi-view 3D modeling system
A new technique is proposed for calibrating a 3D modeling system with variable zoom based on multi-view stereo image analysis. The 3D modeling system uses a stereo camera with variable zoom setting and a turntable for rotating an object. Given an object whose complete 3D model (mesh and texture-map) needs to be generated, the object is placed on the turntable and stereo images of the object are...
متن کاملA Semi-automatic Procedure for Texturing of Laser Scanning Point Clouds with Google Streetview Images
We introduce a method to texture 3D urban models with photographs that even works for Google Streetview images and can be done with currently available free software. This allows realistic texturing, even when it is not possible or cost-effective to (re)visit a scanned site to take textured scans or photographs. Mapping a photograph onto a 3D model requires knowledge of the intrinsic and extrin...
متن کاملRealistic surface reconstruction of 3D scenes from uncalibrated image sequences
This contribution addresses the problem of obtaining 3D models from image sequences. A 3D surface description of the scene is extracted completely from a set of uncalibrated camera images of the scene. No prior knowledge about the scene or about the camera is needed to build the 3D models. The only assumptions are the rigidity of the scene objects and opaque object surfaces. The modeling system...
متن کاملiModel: Interactive Co-segmentation for Object of Interest 3D Modeling
We present an interactive system to create 3D models of objects of interest in their natural cluttered environments. A typical setting for 3D modeling of an object of interest involves capturing images from multiple views in a multi-camera studio with a mono-color screen or structured lighting. This is a tedious process and cannot be applied to a variety of objects. Moreover, general scene reco...
